Description

This genre is aptly named after New York's Brill Building (at 1619 Broadway) where staff songwriters in the early 1960s steadily cranked out well-crafted pop tunes about teenage love. The best-known Brill Building teams include Carole King and Gerry Goffin, writers of the Shirelles' "Will You Love Me Tomorrow;" Jeff Barry and Ellie Greenwich, who penned "Da Doo Ron Ron" by the Crystals; and Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil, authors of the Drifters' hit "On Broadway."
