Arizona's Gloritone channel attractive features of other Power Pop faves, fusing Radiohead's swirly, phased-out psychedelia, Teenage Fanclub's melodic, ho-hum rhythms, and Buffalo Tom's kindhearted crunch, into bona fide hits. Mixed with a nice sheen, songs fortuitously don't sound overproduced. They're wrapped simply and tastefully without the silly, lavish bows and multicolored ribbons that grow tiresome on the eyes (and ears). Vocals are layered to sound big, and, combined with singer Tim Anthonise's genuine, big-in-the-first-place voice generate some extremely rich and attractive performances. This is a remarkably honest and sincere sound -- if there's any justice they'll be everyone's new favorite Power Pop band by this time next year.
