Grover Washington, Jr.

Washington was always a talented saxophonist, but he proved with this session that his Hard Bop chops had lost none of their bite since he became a crossover pop star. The three sessions are divided between ace pianists Tommy Flanagan, Herbie Hancock, and James Sid Simmons. Easily one of Grover's best dates -- the whole thing smokes.
