Growing

Growing are a two-piece ambient-noise or new-age metal or make-up-your-own-category band originally from Portland but currently based in N.Y.C. They play extremely long drone pieces at earsplitting volume, somehow using massively loud amplifiers to soothe and relax the audience. Or maybe that's just a loss of consciousness. Anyway, Growing may be an acquired taste for some. This set from 2005, often somber and psychedelic, gets really awesome about 28 minutes in. Stick with it. The best part may be the end of the first track, where the four people in attendance try to clap.
