When "Everybody's Talkin'" became a cross-generational hit, it spurred interest in Harry Nilsson's back catalog. It also bankrolled Harry and helped make the wonderful "I Guess the Lord Must Be in New York City" Nilsson's first straight-out-of-the-gate hit single. The rest of the album shares that song's Americana feeling and makes it apparent that Harry Nilsson was more interested in experimenting with classic forms than pandering to the usual rock crowds. Compare the darkly etched "City Life" with the innocent "Open Your Window." Nilsson could do it all.
