Ida Cox

The 70+-year-old Cox came out of retirement to record this album in 1961, just a few years before her death. She had been a blues and jazz singer from the '20s through the '40s, and you can tell it from the way she eases her way around these numbers: it's like she's in her living room despite the fact that her voice is well past its prime.
