Immortal Technique

No longer content to speak on the ills of the 'hood, Immortal Technique go global, chronicling America's long history of Third World imperialism. On the title track, the Peruvian-born emcee describes a place where "the water is cursed" and "they cut the hands off if you make a fist." This isn't so much to diminish the injustices carried out in the States (check "Open Your Eyes"), but rather to demonstrate that the medium of hip-hop is a weapon that crosses national boundaries. Some of it is didactic, but Green Lanterns' beats are dizzying and visceral.
