Japanese Motors

About

Japanese Motors are an Orange County-based four-piece garage-rock band with strong surf rock sounds (the members actually are surfers). Like a beach-blanket version of the Modern Lovers -- only quieter -- Japanese Motors rarely push tempos past the laid-back pace of a SoCal summer day and almost never use reverb effects or distortion. Their self-titled debut was released in 2008 by Vice Records.
