The size and scope of World Waits revisits the grandest moments of former Sunny Day Real Estate frontman Jeremy Enigk's decade-old solo debut, Return of the Frog Queen -- there are church organs, chimes and reverb-wet guitars galore. But where Frog Queen seemed to wail about bleak situations, Enigk's latest has a tranquil outlook, especially in dreamy tracks like "Been Here Before" and "Dare a Smile." And even though his frail falsetto dominates, the orchestral arrangements and delicate harmonies lend this record a powerful gravity.
