Jimmy Raney

Raney and Brookmeyer prove that the guitar and trombone can work together naturally, with the N.Y.C. masters of cool-toned bop employing counterpoint and letting their musical phrases dance around each other. Brookmeyer later gained renown as an arranger, but Raney was the creative force behind this excellent album. Hank Jones is on piano.
