Most rockers record covers album as a fun way to relax while still getting a record out of the way. Its different for Joan Jett (a solid tunesmith in her own right) since covers have always been a major part of almost all of her LPs. Here, Jett picks tracks that seem to have influenced her own sound -- from the Chamber Bros.' "Time Has Come Today," to Nazareth's proto-power ballad "Love Hurts."

The Hit List, Joan Jett's new album of covers, doesn't quite connect. As Jett's equivalent of
Bowie's Pin Ups or UB40's Labour of Love, it plays like a classic-rock radio station that has
been programmed by chance – where the bad-boy bluster of AC/DC's "Dirty Deeds Done
