Joe Henderson

This 1980 session with Chick Corea, Ron Carter and Billy Higgins is only one of dozens of examples of how Joe Henderson played just as beautifully before his star ascended on the Verve label in the 1990s. For many musicians, this would be a star-making release; for Henderson & Co., it was considered just another jazz record. You can tell by the level of Henderson's band that his jazz peers viewed him differently than the critical or public communities did at that time.
