John Cage

This legendary 1959 recording combines John Cage reading anecdotes and bits of philosophy and making in-the-moment observations in 60-second intervals. In another room, David Tudor works from Cage's indeterminate scores to play piano and live electronics. The jarring juxtaposition of elements still sounds fresh nearly 50 years later, and, as odd as it is, happens to be the blueprint for musical form and function's modern marriage.
