John Eliot Gardiner

About

Although John Eliot Gardiner is considered one of the most dynamic and versatile conductors of his generation, his fame is due in large part to leading the modern revival of early music performance with two groups that he founded, the Monteverdi Choir and the English Baroque Soloistsand. These ensembles use period instruments and are known for their exquisite performances of Bach. His range is evident in another ensemble he leads, the Orchestre Revolutionnaire et Romantique, which has recorded Brahmas and Beethoven. In addition to the hefty performance schedule with these ensembles, Gardiner appears regularly as guest conductor with symphonic institutions around the world and has recorded over 250 albums for the Deutsche Grammophon and Philips Classics labels.
