About

It may not have been a smooth journey but John Travolta succeeded in going from teen idol and TV star to award-winning, respected film actor. In between those poles, Travolta also starred in two of the defining musicals of the 1970s: the gritty, realistic Saturday Night Fever and the goofily surreal Grease. The former Sweathog's place in pop history would have been assured if his involvement with music stopped with movie musicals -- but it didn't. Though he may now want to forget it, John Travolta was also a late '70s pop crooner with a soft pop catalogue so saccharine that it earned him the nickname "John Revolta." While most fans will want to stick with the Grease soundtrack (which includes a string of Travolta-sung chart-topping hit singles), those with a love of questionable material or an appreciation of flared-trousered, well-coiffed cheese may want to hear such forgotten smashes as "Let Her In" and "All Strung Out on You." The character Travolta played to perfection in his comeback vehicle Pulp Fiction would surely get a kick out of that last title.
