"Cry Me a River" is the classic single that everyone remembers; it came from Julie Is Her Name, Julie London's best-selling debut, which became one of the key albums of the 1950s. The session matches London's small, sexy voice with mellow jazz guitar and bass background. This approach was often copied in the jazz and pop world. Guitarist Barney Kessel's work here was much studied by jazz and rock guitarists (including the young George Harrison), and three years later London cut Julie Is Her Name, Vol. 2 with Howard Roberts playing guitar. Both LPs are featured here and are highly recommended for seekers of sensual audio thrills.
