Keren Ann

Recorded in studios around the world, Keren Ann's fifth album keeps the dreamy absinthe swirl and the sumptuously pained emotion of her previous work while adding some vital, slo-mo guitar crunch to a few tracks. As quiet and outwardly reserved as ever (even when dusting off every instrument in the orchestra pit), Ms. Zeidel writes songs that Feist or Cat Power would kill to get their hands on ("Lay Your Head Down," "It Ain't No Crime," "Liberty" and "Between the Flatland and the Caspian Sea").

tomorrow, with a nice tune to back it up. One thing, though, mon chou -- over here, we
say, "Miss you like hell." "As hell" just doesn't sound right.
