Kevin Paige appeared in dance clubs in the early 1990s, but was made obsolete almost overnight by the explosion of 808 beats and a general disinterest in Styrofoam funk performed by Prince-loving white guys -- in 1991, Midnite Vultures was still a long way off. Today, Paige sounds a lot like an early Michael Jackson; his infectious, if empty, dance music has withstood the test of time remarkably well.
