Kirsty MacColl

The Zelig of indie pop, MacColl has provided vocals and written songs for almost everyone you care about, so don't be too surprised to see Johnny Marr and David Gilmour collaborating on this, her third release. Her songs are witty diatribes on the issues of the day, and even though that day was in 1989, the catchy tunes and plaintive delivery keep things fresh. There's even a cover of "Days" for Kinks fans, but the track to start with is "Don't Come the Cowboy with Me Sonny Jim!"
