Kitaro

Kitaro's Ku-Kai series started as a response to the events of September 11, 2001. He vowed to visit Buddhist temples, retracing the journey taken by the famed Buddhist monk Ku-Kai over 1000 years ago. Three albums in and the guy's still going strong, sampling temple bells and crafting musical montages that call on nature -- and synthesizers -- for texture. People with low blood pressure, beware: This album could send your heart rate through the floor.
