Levitation were a short-lived media phenomenon in England during the early 1990s. The band was the project of former House of Love guitarist Terry Bickers and former Jazz Butcher bassist Lawrence O'Keefe. A heavy, sludgier affair than most of the dance-oriented neo-psychedelia being released at the time, the band were a dirtier, darker sort that used layered guitars and almost spectral vocals to invoke fear rather than euphoria. Reportedly leaving the band mid-show, announcing that they had "lost it," they broke up the band and pursued other projects.
