Longwave

Longwave obviously love the textured, "beautiful feedback" guitar sound of such British outfits as Ride and the Jesus & Mary Chain, but the Americans concentrate more on Strokes-style songcraft, creating something new. A strong combination of head and heart, this album will find a home blasting out of the better dorm rooms.

On this five-song EP, these tuneful New Yorkers put a DIY bent on the spacious shoegazer
fuzz of their 2003 major-label debut. Steve Schlitz croons rather than swoons over
keyboards and low-fi distortion, and on "We're Not Gonna Crack," his mates do a fine
Strokes impression, if only to prove that arty Anglophilia and New Yawk grime aren't
mutually exclusive.
