Marvin Sapp

About

Some may recognize Marvin Sapp from his brief stint with Commissioned in the 1990s, and others as the founder and Senior Pastor of Lighthouse Full Life Center Church, located in Grand Rapids, Michigan. It's his solo work, however, that has earned him widespread acclaim. Invited by Fred Hammond to join Commissioned, Sapp appeared on their albums Number Seven and Matters of the Heart. Shortly after the group's dissolution in 1995, he went solo with his own brand of polished urban gospel. Since then, his sound has grown in both sophistication and demand in Christian and crossover markets alike, blending the fiery R&B of Kirk Franklin and the butter-soft soul of Smokie Norful's worship.
