Though certainly a far cry from hard-knocking Jamaican chart-toppers like Richie Spice, the latest Matisyahu EP steeps his vanilla patois in the traditions of dancehall fathers like Sizzla and Eek-A-Mouse, even if "Chop 'Em Down" and "Warrior" inject those traditions with pop-centric grooves more akin to Maxi Priest. The remixed hits include Adrock's reworking of the title track from his 2006's Youth and two new versions of "Jerusalem," but it's Matisyahu's cover of the Police song "Message In A Bottle" that demonstrates his crossover potential.
