Rhapsody

Fans of the late great June Carter Cash need to hear where the woman's roots were born. "Mother" Maybelle Carter performed these beautiful, timeless Appalachian ballads at the 1963 Newport Folk Festival when she was 54 years old. Her trademark "Carter Scratch" style of guitar playing is riveting, but hearing her play autoharp and sing in her husky hillbilly voice is a rich portal into the music and legacy of her daughter, especially on the captivating rendition of "Wildwood Flower."
