Michael Harrison

Although Michael Harrison is a fixture on the New Age scene, his roots lie firmly in classical minimalism a la La Monte Young, Terry Riley, Philip Glass, Charlemagne Palestine, etc. Of course, this makes total sense. The fundamentals of New Age music are based in part on the minimalists' exploration of repetition and harmonics, both of which Harrison further examines on Revelation. But unlike Young, his mentor, Harrison is far more dedicated to conventional atonality.
