After 15 years and six albums, Ohio's Moviola drops its best record. Growing beyond youthful, lo-fi primitivism, they're now mature folk rock craftsmen as skilled as Amish carpenters. From rustic country-pop to punchy RnB, Dead Knowledge unfolds like a true American panorama. The quartet even tips its glass to freak folk with a Celtic drone titled "Black Haired Katherine." But the disc's best track is the piano ballad "Rudy," a melancholic reflection on Midwest boredom.
