Rhapsody

The high priestess of Helsinki soul delivers a suite of songs that are funky, nostalgic and easy to like. Nicole Willis, whose resume includes collaborations with Curtis Mayfield and the Brand New Heavies, has a pleasant if unobtrusive voice. It's the perfect foil for the Soul Investigators' prim funk, which has more bounce than swagger. British tastemaker Gilles Peterson called the breezy "Feeling Free" his song of the year.
