Totally boss idea: Take classic afrobeat and filter it through Miles' In a Silent Way-era fusion, early '70s soul and electronica. Wow. Ghost Rock is gobs 'n' gobs of hypnotic goodness. And when your mind ain't swirling about, your body is. NOMO sounds not unlike Konono No. 1. At the same time, the fact that they're from Michigan comes through the music. There are moments when the band actually dissolves the division between sweaty human funk and futuristic technoid bop. Again, wow!
