Oblivians

Under certain circumstances, listening to the Oblivians can lead to serious trouble -- waking up with unknown cuts and bruises, in a jail cell, evicted. Popular Favorites is their second record and, as with their first, things get really fun with track three, "The Leather," a smoldering blues with head-wounded feedback freakouts and doomed Southern boy vocals. The rest of the album comes machine-gunning out of the speakers like a series of fits. If you don't have their monumental Strong Come On or Go! Pill-Popper 7-inches, Popular Favorites will do in a pinch.
