Vanguard Years collects most of the essential material from the seminal group's prolific 1970s period. As the cuts demonstrate, Oregon's impact on jazz-fusion and the subsequent emergence of New Age music was great. Their constant experimentation with jazz and folk from around the world was still a very new idea in the '70s.
