Otis Ball's brand of slightly funny, quirky roots-ish rock falls somewhere between the bar band sounds of NRBQ and the grad-school hi-jinx of They Might Be Giants (who, coincidently are responsible for Otis' first label deal). A heavy combination of wit and novelty does not always go down easily, but thankfully it's the actual tune that stays with you in Otis Ball's music.
