This 1956 album is so strong that you wonder why Paul Chambers didn't get to lead more sessions. The valued bassist is joined by such fellow luminaries as John Coltrane, Horace Silver, Kenny Burrell, Donald Byrd, and Philly Joe Jones for a loose hard bop set that captures a fiery jam session that feels totally different from the bassist's sideman work with Miles and Trane.
