Paul Horn

Paul Horn's reputation as one of the founders of new age can be traced back to these landmark recordings from the late 1960s. The flutist set up camp in the Taj Mahal with a tape recorder, flute and chanter. Dripping in echo and sustain, this deeply hypnotic and all-too-ritualistic music has little in common with the saccharine pop music that passes for new age these days. Stretches of this album get pretty darn psychedelic. Crank this thing with headphones. It's killer.
