By the late 1970s it seemed like Pete Townshend was saving his best songs for his solo projects instead of the Who. This 2-CD set does a good job of spotlighting Townshend's various solo sets, from his warm recordings with Ronnie Lane, cuts from his stripped- down Scoops series and his various theme LPs (of which, Chinese Eyes ranks as his best).
