Rhapsody

For Errol Morris' chilling documentary The Fog of War, Philip Glass composed a slew of short pieces ranging in duration from one to three minutes. At first blush, they sound like leftovers from Patriot Games or some other political thriller with endless pans across Washington, D.C.'s cityscape. Yet Glass' knowledge of repetition makes them ominously hypnotic -- perfect for a Morris flick. Of course, none of the soundtrack's 30 or so tracks are long enough for serious side effects.
