The title obscures one fact of YPGPN: this can be serious stuff, from its buzzing thickets of digeridoos to its out-of-tune accordions. But as "Unmentionable Piece for Trombone and Sousaphone" suggests, there's a playful side to the Downtown icon. While his drones suggest infinite expanses, listening to them creates a rare sense of freedom: it's the feeling of lying on one's back in mid-summer, humming along to the distant whine of lawnmowers. "Serious" music was rarely so approachable.
