This recording documents the first of a two-night stint at Brooklyn's Keyspan Park (the first date of the band's farewell tour), and sadly does not include the second night, when Phish were joined onstage by Jay-Z (neither is this moment on the release's companion DVD). Phish were always best captured in a live setting, and this June 17, 2004, concert finds the band in its characteristically adventurous form. When Phish interweave jam-y psychedelic improvisation with the meticulous structures that are their trademark, they really do echo the open-ended awesomeness of the Dead's
Anthem of the Sun.
