Way back in the 1990s there were a lot of bands coming out of the British pop scene. But there was also a lot of flaccid hype. The funny thing is that all the UK music mags of the time were saying that bands like Sleeper were going to be the new Blondie or that the Northside were going to be the next Smiths. The truth is that many of these bands' haircuts may have aged better than the actual music (while other valid artists like Bernard Butler could have been contenders).
