Teo Macero (1925 -- 2008) was a talented jazz saxophonist, arranger and producer. Though he produced two of the biggest selling albums in jazz history (Miles Davis' Kind of Blue and Dave Brubeck's Time Out ), he is most famous for the ground-breaking production and splicing he did on Miles' electric albums of the late '60s and early '70s. Macero also played with, and produced, masterworks by Thelonious Monk, Charles Mingus and others.
