"Progressive bluegrass" is a silly phrase. All music, if it's played from the heart, is progressive by nature. That said, the revolution that changed pop music in the 1960s and early '70s affected the sounds of Appalachia as well. Crazy hippies were turning into rural folk, and rural folk were turning into crazy hippies -- simply look at a picture of John Hartford or Norman Blake circa '71! Needless to say, it was an amazing time for roots music, as our starter kit clearly demonstrates.
