The Joshua Tree Roots Music Festival, now in its third year, is a refreshing change of pace. Most folk-centric festivals look to overwhelm attendees, packing a gazillion bands into a single weekend. The J.T.R.M.F., in contrast, features between 14 and 16 groups and no more. This creates a greater sense of intimacy for both the bands and their audiences, which are in for a real treat this year with groups like the South Austin Jug Band, Trampled by Turtles, Nathan and Elephant Revival.
