Author's Comments
Her songs were not always political, nor were her performances always tied to revolutionary action (despite the Argentinean government's opinions to the contrary). But Mercedes Sosa had the kind of voice that makes you believe music really can effect change: strong, moving, rich in conviction and incredibly powerful. When she died on October 4, Latin America lost a great singer. But the mark her voice made on the world is indelible.
