Because "blister pop" isn't an established genre, most of the bands on this playlist fall into other categories: power pop, indie rock, alternative pop. Yet there's no denying that these groups often flirt with a sound that reaches beyond those genres. It's hard to explain, really, but the aesthetic we're struggling to define has something to do with the 1980s and the reconciliation of post-hardcore, post-punk and the kind of hooks commonplace during the British Invasion.
