Fueled by Ramen's empire grows stronger and more powerful, its iron grip clenching around the throat of pop-punk and post-emo, with this latest Midwestern-band-with-lengthy-song-titles-du-jour. So it follows that Powerspace's debut album is a little bit power pop, a little bit rock-n-roll, a little bit Fall Out Boy, a little bit The Academy Is....Powerspace leans a little more toward The Academy's hook-driven earnestness than Boy's campy theatrics, although it's hard to take tracks like "Be Aggressive," with its cheerleader-with-a-vocoder chorus, completely seriously.
