Are Psapp growing up? On their fourth album, the childlike wonder and impish play give way to something fuller. "I Want That" marches in on cabaret legs, its mix of tinny blues and electronic blips sounding like Captain Beefheart on helium, while "Marshrat" sounds like you might imagine the Christmas carols of Jan Svankmajer's childhood. "The Monster Song" is ramshackle '60s pop, while "Part Like Waves" bobs along at a cheerful 6/8 clip, with jovial accents lending the illusion of a stranger time signature.
