Having been burned once or twice before when English music journalists tried their hand at music (remember Gay Dad or, gulp, Fabulous?), it comes with a certain amount of surprise that Regular Fries are actually quite good! Oscillating between soporific grooves and leering beats, Regular Fries live out the "behind every great song is a great pill" philosophy on which Primal Scream gloriously crashed and burned. In fact, Regular Fries could well be the equivalent of an aural roofie, as their laid-back sound is layered with airy grooves that breathe fire as they hypnotize and seduce. Perhaps it was just a matter of time before the line between musician and music journalist blurred in a flattering fashion. Or perhaps Regular Fries really are talented. Whatever the case, you might want to try this one -- super-sized.
