Rex

Rex's sophomore disc possesses enough heartbroken whispers and emotional crescendos to justify comparisons to Seam and Codeine. Rex is, without a doubt, a post-rock/slowcore heavyweight. But at the same time, the band's jammy baroque dub comes wrapped in faded earth tones and rickety grooves. It's not folkie Americana like Souled American or Will Oldham, but it does sound like the product of a weekend retreat to a secluded cottage just as much as it does a city loft in Brooklyn.
