These early recordings of perhaps the most important comedian of the modern age find Pryor working a little less, uh, "blue" than the style he became known for. The routines are still hilariously funny, and his messages are as controversial and pointed as ever -- he's just delivering them in a less confrontational manner. "I'm a Negro" is great.
