Ricky Skaggs

Ricky Skaggs and Sharon White were married in 1982, so after 25 years a collaborative album between the bluegrass icon and White's singing family, favorites of the Grand Ole Opry, is about due. It follows, then, that the four-part harmonies on Salt of the Earth are seamless, even if the jaw-dropping instrumentation that one expects from a Skaggs record is noticeably absent. As a collection of inspirational songs, however, the record delivers, and it's worth the wait.
